Biography

Gordon Moore's research focuses on using high temperature and pressure experimental apparatus to investigate the origin, behavior, and characteristics of magmas (molten rocks) in planetary interiors. As both the chemical and physical properties of magmas vary significantly with the addition of volatile components (e.g., H2O, CO2, S, Cl, F) much of Moore's work includes defining the role of these fugitive components in magmatic and volcanic environments.
