Biography
Alyssa Manis is a scientist in the Orbital Debris Program Office at the Johnson Space Center. Her work includes modeling the current and predicted future of the orbital debris environment. Manis advances data analysis techniques to better characterize orbital debris populations and effects of collisions and explosions on the debris environment. She received her Ph.D. in Computational and Applied Mathematics from Southern Methodist University. Her past work included science research at Texas A&M University, Galveston, where she studied tsunami generation by submarine landslides in the Gulf of Mexico. Her work concerning orbital debris is essential in protecting the astronauts and payloads aboard space vehicles like the International Space Station. Her work will contribute to the future of all NASA affiliated spacecraft.
