Biography
David Bretz is an image analyst in the Image Science and Analysis Group at the Johnson Space Center and has been with this group since 1996. David is the lead image analyst supporting the Orion Capsule Parachute Assembly System (CPAS) testing providing an array of 2-dimensional and 3-dimenstional photogrammetric analyses. He is the primary analyst for the Orion Capsule Forward Bay Cover jettison testing. He has supported four Hubble Space Telescope Servicing missions (SM-2, SM-3A, SM-3B, SM-4) and provided analysis for the Columbia Accident Investigation. Over the last twenty years he has learned many things about evaluating image sharpness, measuring and removing lens distortion, close-range photogrammetry with multiple camera perspectives, and enhancing detail in video by integrating multiple frames after spatially registering them.
David received a Silver Snoopy in 2004 and the Barrios President’s Award in 2008.
