Biography

Marco Lozano is a Systems Engineering and Mission Operations Lead within NASA’s Astromaterials Research and Exploration Science Division (ARES), where he leads the development and integration of data communications, field infrastructure, and engineering data distribution capabilities supporting human spaceflight and exploration missions.

Lozano has led the engineering and deployment of mission-critical systems that acquire, process, distribute, store, and display engineering imagery, telemetry, voice, and video across multiple NASA centers and remote field locations. His work has enabled integrated communications and data capabilities that improve operational awareness, support real-time decision-making, and enhance mission readiness.

As a lead engineer for multiple cross-center integration efforts, Lozano has driven requirements development, system architecture, implementation planning, integration, testing, and operational deployment. He brings together engineering, mission operations, software, cybersecurity, and external partners to resolve complex technical challenges and deliver systems ready for mission operations.

During flight and field operations, Lozano provides mission console and operational support, ensuring critical engineering data and communications are available to flight controllers and engineering teams when needed. He also develops operational concepts, procedures, training products, and technical documentation while mentoring team members and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities.

Through his work at Johnson Space Center (since 1996), Lozano has developed broad expertise in systems engineering, mission operations, technical project leadership, systems integration, communications architecture, and cross-center coordination. He applies this experience to developing innovative capabilities that support NASA’s current missions and advance the agency’s future human exploration objectives.
