Biography

John Opiela is an Orbital Debris Scientist supporting NASA's Orbital Debris Program Office at the Johnson Space Center. Over the years, he has contributed to different task groups within the ODPO, including radar data processing, debris environment modeling, in situ measurements, research and development, and currently the Safety, Standards, and Assessment group. John graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in aerospace engineering, focusing on space mission design.
