Micro X-ray Computed Tomography (XCT)

The internal rock structure comes from a process similar to the X-ray systems used in the medical field. You can look inside the rock itself and see a visual analysis of what it is made of. For example, bright tones would indicate metal-rich features and darker tones would indicate silica-rich features.

View this interior imagery in detail by opening this rock in the Astromaterials 3D Explorer application.
