Air Dynamics

Industry Facilities-Air Dynamics
Industry Facilities-Air Dynamics
  • Information provided by yet2 Market Analysis
  • Technology Description
    • Air Dynamics manufacture custom environmental testing chambers. The Desert Wind sand and dust test chamber uses patented technology to test objects for dust and sand ingress protection and absasion resistance. The technology is designed to meet and exceed MIL-STD 810G and DO-160* standards
  • Features include
    • automated temperature control from 70 oF to 200 oF
    • automated humidity control for dust test to less than 30% RH
    • automated wind velocity control from 0-29 m/s
    • automated industrial hygiene system protects the operator from silica exposure
    • automated dust recirculation process
    • automated sand disposal process
    • automated sand or dust concentration system provides a calibrated loss-in-weight measurement using: Rate= (Concentration)(Area)(Velocity)
  • This concentration system is unique to the Desert Wind patented design. It is the only system currently capable of providing a repeatable concentration of sand or dust to the test chamber. Desert Wind offers consistent, repeatable testing for MIL-STD-910G, method 510.4 which allows users to move toward predictive failure testing analysis
  • Comparative Value Proposition
    • Air Dynamics patented technology is the only test facility that allows a repeatable concentration of sand or dust to the test chamber for each and every test
    • Designed to meet and exceed the specification set by the MIL-STD-810G by a factor of 100
    • Regolith simulant can be used in the test chambers
    • Desert Wind environmental test chambers are also available in a portable version
  • Commercial Information
    • Air Dynamics Industrial Systems Corporation is a veteran owned company specializing in working with the demands of harsh environments, the lead time for a test chamber is 1-2 yrs
    • IP: Sand and Dust Environmental Testing System
    • Potential Use Case: Ingress protection testing and abrasion resistance testing
    • Partnering and deal potential: Air Dynamics recently supplied the US Army with their second Desert Wind simulator-delivered to the Dugway proving ground in Utah. The unit will aid Army technicians in evaluating how intense desert conditions affect equipment, munitions and weapons. The US Navy also has 2 Desert Wind chambers

NTS

  • Information provided by yet2 Market Analysis
  • Technology Description
    • NTS claims to operate some of the largest and most accurate sand and dust testing chambers available in the industry
    • They can accommodate parts in excess of 8 ft3 (0.25m3). They can circulate dust at up to 40mph (65kph) and test at temperatures of up to +200 oF (+95 oC). A calibrated hopper which assures that an adequate amount of contaminant is entering into circulation manages the input to the chambers. In addition to measured inputs, NTS employs an electronic beam, which determines that there is the right mixtures of sand or dust and air in the test medium at any given time. This enables technicians to adjust for loss in real time and make corrections to ensure that the test article is exposed to the harmful particle matter for the requisite amount of time
  • Comparative Value Proposition
    • NTS can perform dust testing of large parts, ~8ft3 (0.25 m3)
    • NTS sand and dust testing operations have been verified and audited by numerous governmental agencies, including the defense industry. They are fully conversant with MIL-STD-810 standards for military testing
