Biography
Dr. Scott Eckley is an X-ray Scientist within NASA Johnson Space Center’s (JSC) Astromaterials Research and Exploration Science (ARES) division under the Jacobs-JETS contract. He is an expert in using X-ray computed tomography (CT) scanning to investigate the interiors of geologic samples in three-dimensions (3D) with a focus on quantitatively linking rock textures to their formation and evolution. In his work as an X-ray scientist, Scott provides analytical services for both curation and research purposes for internal and external X-ray CT (Nikon XTH 320) and µXRF (Bruker M4 Tornado Plus) users at Johnson Space Center. Scott serves as the contract laboratory manager and point-of-contact for the Astromaterials X-ray Fluorescence and Computed Tomography (X-FaCT) Laboratory.
