Please adhere to these instructions when returning the disks to prevent loss or delayed handling of the valuable Lunar and Meteorite Sample Disk packages.
- Locate the postal return materials included in your package:
- A mail label, stamped "Registered" for package return
- A meter strip that includes cost for postage and Priority Registered Mail for the return
- Prepare package for return mailing in the original box. The package must be returned in the sample box with no additional weight included. Wrap in brown paper and seal it with paper tape in the same manner that you received it.
- Bring the prepared Sample Disk Package to the US Post Office. Do not apply the mail label and meter strip to the box until the package has been approved by the Post Office employee accepting the package for delivery.
- The package is to be mailed Priority Registered Mail. If asked the value of the package, the amount should be zero. Obtain a red-bordered, numbered "Registered Mail" sticker from the post office and make certain it is applied to the package. There is no cost for this sticker, as the cost has been included in the postage mail strip accompanying the samples. The "Registered Mail" Sticker must be obtained at your local post office to ensure traceability by the US Post Office should the package become lost in the mail.
- Should you desire a return receipt, request one at the time the package is placed in the mail at your local post office. You will be expected to pay the fee for the return receipt.
