Apollo Sample News
Ryan Zeigler, Apollo Curator
Volume 5 No. 2 • September 2023
The biggest change in the Apollo labs since the last newsletter was the departure of lunar sample processor Alexandra Milne, who left us for bigger and better things in the West. Her contributions to the safety of the samples and their timely allocation were significant, and she will be greatly missed.
Beyond that, I would remind folks that the preliminary catalog for the 73001 and 73002 double drive tube samples that formed the core (pun intended) of the ANGSA project work over the past few years has been published on our website, and these samples are now available for request by anyone.
I am pleased to announce that the next Apollo sample request deadline is Friday October 13th at 5 PM Houston (Central) time.
Please see the Curation website here,
here,
and here
for more details on the deadline and the submission process. For PIs looking for more information about the samples as they prepare their requests, I highly recommend the Lunar Sample Compendium and the
Apollo Sample and Photo Database.
All Apollo sample requests should be emailed directly to me at ryan.a.zeigler@nasa.gov.
