Optical Microscopy Lab

NASA Lead: Dr. Lindsay Keller (281-483-6090)
ESCG Lead: Dr. Kathie Thomas-Keprta (281-483-5029)

The Optical Microscopy Laboratory provides researchers with optical microscope technology for the observation and analysis of features in samples from a diverse range of scientific disciplines. In conjunction with transmitted and reflected illumination techniques, this laboratory is equipped with three microscopes capable of studying properties of both organic and inorganic substances using fluorescence. Techniques available to generate increased contrast from samples include bright field, dark field, and cross-polarized light illumination. Most microscopes allow observation and collection of images using a digital format.
