Johnson
Space Center Institute
for the Study of Biomarkers in Astromaterials
|
The NASA Astrobiology Institute at Johnson Space Center is dedicated to identifying specific indicators of past or present biological activity in rocks, soil, and other samples. The study of extreme environments, Earth samples, and Mars meteorites is the research focus. Biomarkers, like fingerprints, show evidence that biological activity is occurring or has occurred. They both leave markers in the form of distinct physical images, chemical tracers, and remnants of cells. |
