Planetary scientists conduct research on planetary processes and materials. The laboratories at JSC can measure the ages and physical properties of planetary materials, duplicate the temperatures and pressures of planetary interiors and the cratering processes that effect planetary surfaces.

Research is also being done on the Mars meteorites, as well as space resource utilization.
